Show City Council acts on three important matters at meeting The City Council met and took action on three important import-ant issues and heard reports on several items in their regular regu-lar meeting Thursday, Oci. Hi. The Council began by let-ting let-ting bills on the installation of a water line from (iOO S. to Center Street on 1100 West. Tiie only bidder on the project pro-ject was Blackburn and Cower Cow-er Construction Co. w.th a bid of $C,075. This was slightly below the engineers estimate. The Council also directed the City Engineer to survey j one quarter of the city in pre-' pre-' paration for forming a special improvement district this coming year. Mayor Lor.;n Whetten indicated that the city felt this was the most expedient and economical way to carry out the need.'d improvements in the city. Im- provements would include street oiling, curb, gutter and sidewalk installation. Also under discussion is what action will lw? taken with the Escalanto Hotel. Two weeks ago the Iron Mission Park approached the Council in regards to making it into a museum. Strong support has also been indicated concerning con-cerning th.s sale of the property pro-perty by the city to private enterprise. Because of the importance im-portance of this issue the council decided to prepare a J special ballot for the upcoming upcom-ing election on which the vot-1 ers could express their views on what to do with the property. pro-perty.
