Show .DESTROY GRASSHOPPERS WITH POISONED BRAN BAIT Young grasshoppers hatch in the spring from eggs laid in the ground the previous fall or late summer. The following formula for poisoning grasshoppers grass-hoppers has been found very successful: success-ful: Mix thoroughly 1 lb., white arsenic ,. into 25 lbs. bran. Dilute 2 quarts of low grade molasses with from 2 to 5 gallons of water (using the larger j amounts of water in dry climates) and add the juice and rind of 6 finely ! chopped lemons or oranges. Stir this ' sirup into the poisoned bran or meal j to make a wet mash. Scatter broad-I broad-I cast over the infested fields, using i from 5 to 7 lbs. to an acre. The county is furnishing the arsenic jj free to farmers. Apply to the Coun-i Coun-i ty Agricultural Agent or to Mr. O. J. H J'oulson, County Crop Pest Inspector. 1 |
