Show COMMENTS With the advent of the year 1970 comes the time to change city administrations. While the change here pertains only to the mayor and one councilman, coun-cilman, we still extend our thanks to those who have presided pre-sided over our city affairs for the past four years and feel that it has been a good four years for our city. Much has been done ior the benefit of our residents. Included are the new sewer system, continued improvements to the water and power distribution systems, sys-tems, and police department should aid in the community's communi-ty's growth. As Ralph and Earl step out we thank them for the things they helped to accomplish in the past four years. To those who remain, Morris, Ted, and Richard, wo wish you success as you join with the new mayor may-or and councilman, Kendall and Jim, in continuing the program for the betterment of our city during the coming years. Nothing is more forlorn looking than a Christmas tree left on a sales lot after the holiday is over unless it is a discarded tree on its way to the city dump at the end of the holiday season. This brings up the thought: we wonder of Max Hendrickson will be in the market for used Christmas trees again this year? Two news items we read in the daily press this week reminds re-minds us that our area is not the only one down on snow this year. A picture showed 'a young lady on her Christmas skis in a Montana City, intimated in-timated there were plenty ot skis but not enough snow. Another stated that this year there are no sleigh rides yet up to the elk feeding grounds at Hardware Ranch above Logan, Lo-gan, Again, not enough snow. And that is snow country. We doff our hat, if we had one, to the men of the Cedar City unit of the National Guard for placing a TV set in the county rest home here before Christmas. Wo have felt that one was needed there for some time. But we found out something during several visits to that place during the past week. That is, most of the residents are not interested inter-ested in programs that are not musical. They don't care for the talking shows. Perhaps they are like me, they don't hear too well. Personally I like musical shows best, and there aren't enough of them. Me and the residents of the rest home like the Lawrence Welk show, but walk out on the others. I also like the Lennen Sisters and would like to see Mitch Miller and his gang come back on TV. |
