Show Editor, Iron County Record: There is such an exciting new television show being presented on Channel 7, KUED, at 6:30 p. m. Sunday evenings that I feel I should share my discovery with others oth-ers who may not yet be aware of its existence. This Is live coverage, in color, of national and international interna-tional affairs, art, literature, humor and satire certainly, something for everyone. The program spans a two-hour period during which some of the most provacative subjects are tackled. Last week's topics I covered such controversial ' discussions as "The Vietnam War -- irj a declaration needed?" need-ed?" and "Selling Political candidates to the Public Via Madison Avenue Techniques." . All points of view are given equal airing by the outstanding outstand-ing proponents of the individual individ-ual causes. The program is titled simply PBL (Public Broadcasting Laboratory) La-boratory) and is sponsored by the Ford Foundation. It is a bold experiment to see if the public is ready for a new kind j of programming, one free from commercial advertising and its ' inhibiting factors. The pro- ' i gram has "anti-commercials" that spoof commercial advertising adver-tising and expose the misleading mis-leading kind of information they promote. All is very well done in the slick, polished manner we have come to ex-nect ex-nect from commercial productions produc-tions with high budTets. Sincerely, Lorraine Juvelii |
