Show FARMERS WARNED TO HASTEN ACTION IN DEFERRED DRAFTCLASS (From the Official Bulletin) The following statement has been issued by the United States Employment Employ-ment Service of the Department of Labor. "A new draft of about &0.O00 men shortly will be called to the colors. The provost marshal general has ordered that men actively, assiduously assiduous-ly and completely engaged in the planting or cultivation of crops, but who are listed in Class 1 of the draft and within the new quota should be deferred until the end of the new quota, , Must Make Affidavit "The local draft boards, being judicial judi-cial bodies, can not defer the call of such men, however, unless the farmers farm-ers employing them support their claims for such deferred classification with affidavits. It is therefore of vital importance that farmers immediately immedi-ately execute and file such affidavits with the local hoards. Immediate Action Urged "If the farmers whose hends are affected in this new call fail to follow thft advloo, they should have no cause for complaint if thfir men are taken from them at this critical time. It will be useless and unreasonable later to protest if they have done nothing to retain iheir help. Immediate Immedi-ate action on the part of every farmer farm-er whose employes are affected is essential ajid should not be delayed under any circumstances." The county agent is being urged to give this matter the widest publicity possible, end he suggests that every farmer interested take action at once |
