W SCOTT The books in the University Library which have been purchased purchased purchased pur pur- chased for supplementary reading reading reading read read- ing in engineering are not used by the students in the technical courses as much as they should be There are a great number of books and magazines in the li library library library li- li dealing with the various various' phases of engineering Many of the books have been obtained during the past year The magazines magazines magazines mag mag- arrive in the library every week and are placed on the shelves where anyone can consult consult consult con con- sult them It is an essential part of an engineers engineer's education to be acquainted with the literature on the subject in which he is inter inter- ested He should know the names of the prominent au authors hors and the titles of the most reliable books and in a measure what can be found in them The professors sors in the different classes should make reference to the literature literature literature lit lit- on his subject and invite t the students' students attention to other books as well as the class text book A student on graduation should be able to refer to and use the standard reference books especially especially especially es es- those contained in our own library The only way that this can be done is for the student student student stu stu- dent to make frequent use of the books magazines and journals at least during the junior and senior years of his course |
