Show Top Golf Meet Of Year Slated for Sept 10 A field of between forty and fifty of the area's golfers are expected to enter the first annual Painted Hills Club Championship on Sept. 10. Professional Jack Hart has said that there has been a tremendous amount of Interest and enthusiasm for the upcoming event, and encourages everyone to enter the tournament. Flights have been set up for all golfers of various abilities wilh Championship Flight heading head-ing the group for golfers in the 0-16 handicap category. First Flight is for 17-22 handicaps, and Second Flight for golfers with 23-up handicaps. A third flight may be formed if more golfers enter and this would probably include golfers with 28 and higher high-er handicaps. Golfers who do not have state handicap cards, or who have no established handicap are encouraged encour-aged to turn in all their scores to Pro Jack Hart so he can compute com-pute them a handicap for the tournament. A minimum of five cards are required, and should be handed In directly after completion comple-tion of each round. This year's event will carry a total of $250.00 in merchandise prizes. First place in each flight will be worth $45.00, second place $25.00, and third place $15.00. This Is based on a minimum min-imum of 40 entries. If more entries en-tries are taken, prizes will be Increased, In-creased, and a possible fourth place prize In each flight. Entry fee is $7.50 for the tournament tour-nament and will include green fee. Entry fee deadline is Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 8. It is an 18 hole stroke play event, and should produce plenty of surprises among the area's golfers. Several favorites for top honors include Cleo Petty, Bruce Decker, Rulon Woodbury, Mike Major, Wes Mullett, Wallace Osborne, and a fast improving Lennie Olafson. Lennie recently captured cap-tured the Dixie Junior Open in St. George. It shapes up as anyone's tournament, and should definitely definit-ely p roduce evidence of things to come in future events. |
