Show Pioneer Descendants Will Stage Community Program Through the combined efforts of the Sons and Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Cedar City Recreation Committee, a full pro-grame pro-grame of events has been arranged ar-ranged for Pioneer Day, July 24, celebration In Cedar City. The opening event will be a Pioneer Day program that will feature a historical report on the trek of the pioneers to Utah, a dramatization, "The Land of the Free," the singing of the "Hand, cart Song" by a special chorus, community sinein and excellent excel-lent musical numbers. Miss Barbara Bar-bara Caddie, Cedar High School teacher, will give the "Ordeal of Handcart" as a feature of the program. The meeting will be held at the First Ward chapel at 10:30 a. m., under the direction of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Immediately Immedi-ately following the meeting the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will serve a special luncheon to all residents over 65 years of age. This will be served in the Relief Society rooms at the chapel. The remainder of the day will be devoted to sports, with races and games for youngsters to be staged at the city park beginning begin-ning at 1:30 p. m. A tournament play-off baseball base-ball game will be staged at 3 p. m. with the Cedar City American Legion Junior team meeting a team from either Sallna or Monroe. Mon-roe. A berth in the state tournament tourna-ment is at stake. A regularly scheduled Little Lea Re baseball game will be played at 5:30 |
