Show Utah Firemen Wind Up Activities, Elect New Officers A successful three-day convention con-vention of the Utah Firemen's Association came to a close Saturday Sat-urday following a series of activities acti-vities and meetings that were described as among the best In the history of the association by conventioneers. Cedar City Volunteer Firemen, hosts of the state-wide gathering, gather-ing, were praised by state officers offic-ers and delegates for the organization organi-zation and handling of the convention con-vention activities. Highlight of the convention was the trip to Zlon National Park with Utah Parks Co. furnishing fur-nishing 20 buses to transport the delegates and their wives and the banquet served on the lawn of the Zion Canyon Lodge. In elections to name new officers of-ficers for the state association Chester Mills of Price City was named as president to succeed J. K. Plercy of Salt Lake City. Utah State Fireman's Auxiliary elected Fern Bowen of Spanish Fork as president. Fireman's Association named in elections at the convention were Albert R. Barrus, Grantsville; John Creedon, Bingham, secretary secre-tary and A. W. Rhone, Tooele, treasurer. Mr. Creedon and Mrs. Rhone were reelected to their positions and Mr. Barrus advanced ad-vanced from second to first vice president. The new president, Mr. Mills, served as first vice president presi-dent during the past year. Zelma Glass of Cedar City was named first vice president of the auxiliary unit and Rhoda Palmer, Pal-mer, of Richfield was named second sec-ond vice president. Dove McAfee of Heber City, Immediate past president of tne auxiliary organization, was named nam-ed as chairman of the 1961 convention. con-vention. Other auxiliary officers include Blanche Doe, Sunnyside, two year director; Donna Bell, Bingham, one year director; Bertha Ber-tha Fisher, chaplain; Mary Johnson, John-son, American Fork, secretary and Helen Bates, also of American Ameri-can Fork will serve as treasurer. St George was named as the site for the 1961 convention. |
