Show College Pushes for Athletic Conference Among Interested Schools I ' College of Southern Utah Athletic Ath-letic Council under its chairman Prof. A. W. Stephenson gave thi green light to Athletic Directoi Bruce Osborne Tuesday to investigate in-vestigate possibilities of forming a new athletic conference among ! schools in Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. j CSU is now In their first year ! competition against other four-! four-! year institutions, and Coach Os-i Os-i borne indicated to the Council some of the problems of scheduling schedu-ling other colleges and universities univers-ities independent of their conference con-ference commitments. Coach Osborne Os-borne pointed out the many advantages ad-vantages of competition on a regular basis with a number of neighboring institutions. The CSU Athletic Director was told to go ahead immediately and determine future possibilities possibili-ties of a conference alignment. Communications have been sent to all independent 4-year institutions insti-tutions in the District 7 J'AIA grouping. These are: Nevada Southern University, Las Vegas; Arizona State College at Flagstaff; Flag-staff; Grand Canyon College, Phoenix; College of St. Joseph, Albuquerque; New Mexico University, Uni-versity, Silver City, N. M.; New Mexico Highlands U., Las Vegas, New Mexico: Eastern New Mexico Mex-ico University, Portales and Westminister West-minister College, Salt Lake City. |
