Show Bantam Basketball Program Started by Guardsmen The Bantam Basketball program pro-gram sponsored by the National Guard got underway in Cedar City last Saturday at the Junior High School gymnasium. Four games were played, two each in the National and American Amer-ican Leagues respectively. However, according to Karl Ingram, In-gram, chairman of the project, some reorganizing was necessary-owing necessary-owing to the fact that teams from Parowan did not enter the program as anticipated. In the opening round the Cadets Ca-dets defeated the Bucks 28 to 23 and the Corvetts slipped past the Rams by a 18 to 14 margin in the National League action. The Eagles in the American racked up a one-side 46 to 9 victory vic-tory over the Fireballs and the Bears scored 47 to defeat the T-Birds T-Birds who came up with 24 points. (lames are played each Saturday Sat-urday forenoon. Under the revised re-vised schedule the Rams and Cadets Ca-dets will meet at 9 a.m. and the Bucks and Corvettes will tangle at 9:45 a.m. in the National Lea- On tap at 9 a.m. in the American Ameri-can League will be the T Birds against the Eagles followed by the Fireballs vs. the Bears. Ingram also announced that a Free throw Contest will be conducted con-ducted on February 1 in cooperation cooper-ation with a state wide contest being sponsored by the Utah National Guard. Details will be announced at a later date. |
