Show Annual Livestock Show Underway j The new livestock show grounds on North Main street was a hive of activity this morning morn-ing as youngsters and livestock breeders from all parts of southern south-ern Utah swormed in to place their entries in the Eighteenth Annual Southern Utah Livestock Show. The show this year Includes the second largest number of animals exhibited in the eighteen eigh-teen year history of the annual event, and it Is doubtful if the over-all quality has ever been surpassed or even equalled. Although the new permanent home of the livestock show is not completed, the possibilities "of such a plant for the annual show are very evident, and will undoubtedly un-doubtedly stimulate show officials offi-cials and supporters to a renewed renew-ed effort toward untimate completion com-pletion of this outstanding pavil-lion. pavil-lion. Judging of fat stm-k began at 10 o'clock this morning (Thursday) (Thurs-day) with champions and reserve champions of lambs, steers and swine exhibited by 4-H and FFA younths from throughout the Ennthprn Utah area. Champions and reserve champions in the breeding sheep division will also be named during the day. Judging, fitlng and showmanship showman-ship contests will be held Friday morning and awards will be presented pre-sented at the annual Danquet Friday evenjng. The breeding sheep sale will open at 1 p. m. Friday and continue con-tinue throughout the afternoon. Highlight of the show, of course, will be the sale of fat stock, steers, lambs and swine, Saturday. Record prices have always al-ways been paid for champion stock in the annual livestock show, and all animals have sold at consistantly high prices, and this year should be no exception. Every Indication points to a most successful show, and with the establishment of a new and permanent home for the event, the 1958 show could be the start of a phenorninal growth that will place the Cedar City Show in the vanguard of all such In events the west. |
