Show Utah Mental Health Authorized to Participate in Grant The Utah Association for Mental Men-tal Health, Salt Lake City, Monday Mon-day was notified that it would participate in a $25,000 grant made to the National Association for Mental Health by the Smith-Kline-French Foundation, Phila-delphia, Phila-delphia, according to V. L. Ny-land, Ny-land, executive director. Funds from the grant will be used to finance "Phase 2" of the Association's program to build a "Citizen's Army Against Mental Illness." This involves the recruiting of a large corps of volunteers to direct the activities and to staff the committees and community service programs of the State Association annd Its five chap, ters. Mr. Nyland said that his or-ganizatlon's or-ganizatlon's emphasis on volunteers volun-teers "asserts the necessity to place the responsibility for leadership lead-ership and for the rendering of services to the community in the hands of thousands of citizens who are concerned about the rising ris-ing tide of mental illness and the need to combat it." Local chapters of the Association Associa-tion are located in Cedar City, Provo, Ogden, Logan and Salt Lake City. Dr. L. A. Harding is president of the Iron County chapter. |
