Show College Stages Seventh Track-Field Meet; Dixie Claims Team Honors with 86 Points Four new records were set at the seventh annual College of Southern Utah Invitational Track and Field meet held Saturday at Thunderbird stadium, despite ex-tremely ex-tremely adverse weather condl-r condl-r tlons. Two Dixie College athletes bettered bet-tered marks, a third record was set by a CSU miler and the fourth meet record was set by a Mesa College athlete. The team title went to the powerful Dixie College Rebels, who compiled a total of 86 points In the 16-event meet The Rebels picked off seven first places, tied for an eighth, added seven seconds, sec-onds, tied for an eighth and then added five fourth places and three fifth places. For the host CSU Thunderbirds, who finished second, they had five first places, one second, six thirds, three fourths and a pair , of fifths, for 55 points. In third place In the team standings was Mesa Junior College Col-lege of Grand Junction, Colo., with 50 points, Snow College of Ephraim with 274 and Westminster West-minster College of Salt pike City with 134 points. Doug Miles of Dixie bettered the meet mile record with a time of 4:38.3; the old time was 4:41 minutes. In the two-mile, Ray Barrus of the CSU Thunderbirds outdistanced his rival from St. George to set another distance mark, breaking the old one of 10:40.2 with a time of 10:28.5. Blair of Mesa set a mark of 21 feet 6 inches in the broap Jump to better the old mark by two Inches In-ches and Steve love of Dixie had a time of :51.3 for a new meet record In the 440. Coach Bruce Osborne's Thunderbirds Thun-derbirds picked up ten points In the Javelin throw with a first, third and fourth and added eight points In the 220 yard low hurdles hur-dles with a first and third, for the big point-getter events. Dixie garnered 12 points from the 220 yard dash with every place except third. They added 11 points in the 410 yard run and ten points In the discus.
