Show THE HE recent Teachers Convention held held j jat at Provo was a decided success both both- as to the attendance and as to the excellence excellence excel excel- lence of the work done It is very much to be regretted however that arrangements were not made for the publication of the papers which were read before the Convention They would 1 have been of value to the teachers and many of them of interest to the public 1 l lat at large This suggests the thought that 1 1 the Utah State Teachers Teacher's Association could profitably publish a monthly journal which might serve as the official organ of the Association and also represent the interests of the schools of the state The subscription price should be made small and every member of the Association compelled to become a subscriber local organizations should be effected and each one represented This will unify and J strengthen the teaching force of the state as nothing else could do JI The reception on Tuesday evening did no small credit t to Provo for it was I well attended and the refreshments were j more than sufficient sufficient to satisfy the large throng Our Dr Kingsbury was elected 1 president of the State Teachers Association Association Association J tion without opposition and amid much J enthusiasm Since the U University ni of Utah stands at the head of the public school system in the state it is fitting J that its president should hold this tion But Dr Kingsbury's eminent J ability is his best recommendation for forthe forthe the office Ogden will proba probably bly be the next place of the Association meeting though this this' question was left in the hands of a a com committee m i J |
