Show Two Parowan Youths Receive Church Mission Calls Two young men from the Par-wan Par-wan Second Ward have been Interviewed In-terviewed and have received calls to serve the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as missionaries, it announced by the parents of the young men. The two who have now received receiv-ed their calls are Larry Rowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rowley, Row-ley, and George Edwin Banks, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Banks, Sr. Elder Powley has been called to labor in the Western States Mission, with headquarters In Denver, Colo. He will enter the mission home In Salt Lake City on Aug. 27 and leave the following follow-ing week for his field of labors. A farewell testimonial la being held for him at 1:30 p. m. Sunday, Sun-day, Aug. 19 in connection with the regular Sacrament meeting of the Second Ward. Elder Banks has been called by his church to serve for thei next two and one-half years in the Central German Mission and will enter the mission home In Salt Lake on Sept 15. Following his week in the home he will be flown to his field of labors with the flight from New York to Europe being on a Royal Dutch Airlines plane, according to his parents. Elder Hanks is a graduate of the Cedar High School and attended at-tended College of Southern Utah for the past year. He Is very active ac-tive In Scout work, being an Ea gle Scout with two palms and has his third palm earned which his mother will receive for him after he arrives In the mission field Elder Rfxvley Is a giaduate of the Parowan High School where he served as student body president presi-dent during his senior year. He has attended Utah State University Univer-sity during the past year. In high school he was active In athletics, playing on the football, basketball basket-ball and baseball teams for two years. Larry is the second member of his family to serve In the mission mis-sion field, as his older brother Tommy Is now serving In the Mexican Mission of the LDS church He has been out since October of 1960. When these two yjung men get Into the mission it will bring the number of missionaries serving from that ward to nine. |
