Show Cedar High Students Named Delegates to Model UN Assembly Cu Vi DR. JAMES AVERY JOYCE Delegates to the Model United Nations assembly were chosen by the Cedar City High School UN Club this past week. The Cedar City group will represent rep-resent Nigeria and Rumania. The delegates from Cedar High include in-clude Nancy Claire Johnson, Dow Seegmiller, Karen Neilson, Mary Ann Palmer, and Danny Roberts. The assembly will be held at the University of Utah campus on April 17 through April 18. London lawyer, James Avery Joyce, internationally known for his lectures and writings on international in-ternational affairs, will keynote the assembly. !i. He has a long record of service tvith groups promoting civil 'liberties, penal reform and adult education. educa-tion. The author has contributed articles to the "Nation," the "Saturday Review," and other leading American Journals. His book, "Justice at Work," on the human side of the law in England, Eng-land, has been reprinted several times as a popular paperback. He is also author of "World in the Making," "Revolution on East River," "Red Cross International" and other works on current social so-cial international problems. Following the keynote address by Dr. Joyce, the high school delegates del-egates to the committees, specialized spec-ialized agencies, and colloquium will get down to the business of resolutions and debate. The topic for the colloquium will be the great debate of the year, "Does America's best hope for the future lie in political conservation?" con-servation?" The affirmative side was wrUten by Senator Brry Goldwater; the negative by Senator Sen-ator Jacob K. Javits. Dr. J. Wel-don Wel-don Moffitt, director of leadership training for the university extension ex-tension division, will head the discussion. The specialized agencies section sec-tion will discuss "World Population Popula-tion and Food Supply How to Feed the World's People." The Model U. N. will conclude Saturday morning with a cri-tique cri-tique at the end of the final General Assembly session. |
