A heavy snow storm which was general throughout all oi I southern Utah struck in (.'edai City late Saturday evening bring ing over a foot of snow and near ly a third of an inch of moisture in the first 21 hours. I The storm continued through! Monday and high winds near noon Monday brought almost1 ing; however, temperatures in j s.l'i.ih Highway i'a:ro was stopping stop-ping traffic out of Cedar City, i North owing to blizzard condi-f condi-f tions on Buckhorn Flat. The wind ' r subsided late Monday afternoon as the storm moved north caus-- caus-- ing similar conditions along Highway 91 between Cove Fort and Kanosh. The storm left the area late Monday evening with a total moisture content of .52 of an inch at the Cedar City Airport where it was recorded by the Federal Aviation Agency. Snow depths at the Airport, however, were less than in Cedar City. According to the FFA report the temperature tempera-ture reached 22 degrees below zero Monday evening and Tuesday Tues-day high was 17 degrees. In Cellar Ce-llar Valley a low of 21 below , zero was recorded Tuesday evening; even-ing; however, temperatures in Cedar City were not that low. The minus 21 degrees is the lowest recorded in the Cedar area in several years and according to recent records Is a new low for the past ten years. A full check on the record lows for the area, has not been made. It remained clear in Cedar City Tuesday and Wednesday, wit! temperatures remaining extreme ly low through both days. |
