Currently In a tie for second place with defending champions Boise and only half a game behind be-hind the league leaders, Weber, the CSU Broncos face a 1000 milei road trip ando three games. In-1 eluding the number one team, Weber; the tied for second team. Boise, and the fourth place team. Ricks. Friday evening the Broncos meet current league leader, Weber, We-ber, in a game at Ogden. From Ogden the Broncos move to Rex-Burg. Rex-Burg. Idaho for a contest with he Ricks Vikings, one of the two teams in the league with a win over the Broncos, and Monday Coach Cleo Petty and his crew hit the northwest outpost of the ICAC boundary to tangle with the Boise Broncos. As far as the rugged trip is concerned it is still the best arrangement ar-rangement for the Broncos. They will play their games In sequence se-quence according to mileage rather ra-ther than retract their steps like Dixie. The Rebels must first travel all the way to Boise and then cross Idaho to Ricks for their two content Friday and Saturday, respectfully. The Weber Wildcats took a rather firm hold on the conference confer-ence lead during the week with a surprice two-game win over the Ricks Viking. P'a'in! first at Rexburg the Wildcats came up with ?n 82 to 61 win and moving to Ogden Saturday evening thej posted an 88 to 67 win to boost them into the top spot. The remaining games on the Wildcat schedule leaves them In a favorable position: all of their games are on the home court. Friday they meet the Broncos of CSU and the following week ?nd they meet the Boise Broncos to finish out the season. For the CSU Broncos it is a make or break week end. Two wins on the trip would probably leave them still In the running with a triple victory to put them out in front without question. Should they drop two of the three contests on the rugged trip, however, their hopes for a share of the conference title will be remote, after all the smoke has risen, It not impossible, i Following the trip a single encounter en-counter on the home court in the traditional battle for the axe against Dixie will complete the conference season for the Eroncos. |
