Mobile Chest X-Ray Unit Brought j To Iron County for Two Weeks Visit Under the sponsorship of the' Utah Health Department and the I Iron County Tuberculosis Asso- J ciation arrangements to liave the state mobile chest X-ray unit visit Cedar City in April have been made. Wednesday evening members I of the two organizations, with William Manning of the health department in charge, outlined a tentative schedule for the unit in the county. Under present arrangements ar-rangements the unit will enter Iron County on April 15 and remain re-main in the count v through April 27. Stops Scheduled Stops have been tentatively scheduled for Kanarraville, Paro-wan, Paro-wan, Paragonah, the Crossroads Junction in the Escalante Valley LS" "-"'"' -i and Eenterprise. Committee assignments to insure in-sure the succesful operation of the unit were set up in the initial in-itial meeting of the group and assignment of responsibilities were made. Committees will include, in-clude, arrangements for power facilities, the collection of five cents per x-ray, volunteer workers work-ers and promotion. Mr. Manning stated that the five cents per x-ray is charged to cover the cost of the film. He continued that actually the overall over-all cost of the unit amounted to approximately 50 cents per person. Only Adults Examined Only adults will be x-rayed during the Iron County vis't and the age limit has been set at 15 years and up. Arrangements will be made for eligible high school studdents and college students stu-dents to participate in the program. pro-gram. The last visit of the unit to Iron County was in March of 1951 the committe revealed and all citizens will be urged to participate parti-cipate this year. Only 38 c' of the population were x-rayed at that time. However, Mr. Manning revealed that at that time 38 posible TB cases were detected, 25 cardiacts were disclosed, three posible cancers were discovered and 14 pathologies were revealed. |
