Show Race Meet and Rodeo To Highlight July 4th Celebration With an afternoon rodeo and race meet as the big attraction, a full day's program is being prepared pre-pared for the observance of Independence In-dependence Day, next Monday, in Parowan, according to Clair Hu-let, Hu-let, general chairman of the affair. af-fair. , The observance will begin with the daybreak salute, continue with a parade and public meeting meet-ing in the morning, with the rodeo and race meet in the afternoon, after-noon, children's sports and dance In late afternoon, and end with a dance in the high school gymnasium gym-nasium at night. Featured in the parade; which is sponsored by the Lions Club, and the meeting sponsored by the Sons of Utah Pioneers, will be Nelson Taylor as Uncle Sam, Helen Stevens as Goddess of Liberty Li-berty and Emily Mae Wilcock as Miss Utah. The Panguitch Saddle Club has been Invited to come over and participate in the parade and in the afternoon horse show, and this group will contest in several equestrian events with the local Red Hill Wranglers, sponsors of the race meet and rodeo. In connection con-nection with the rodeo, the sponsors spon-sors state that it is strictly an amateur affair, with the number of participants to be limited. Those desiring to participate must be cleared by Kim Jenson, chairman of that event, before participating. The sports In the late afternoon after-noon are being sponsored by the city recreation committee and the children's dance by the Second Ward Sunday School. The dance in the evening Is being sponsored by Parowan Stake and the Hey-wood Hey-wood orchestra of Cedar City will furnish the music. Time for the various events will be as follows: Parade, 10 a. m.; meeting, 11 a. m., race meet and rodeo, 2:30 p. m. and dance, 9:30 p. m. |
