Show Impressive Rites Install New Rotary Head Ed Stein, Utah-Idaho District Governor, first governor ever to appear at an Installation ceremony cere-mony of the Cedar City Rotary Club, praised the members of the local organization for their outstanding out-standing work at ceremonies held at Zion Lodge Saturday evening. Don Draper, distributor for the Utah Oil Refining Company in Cedar City, was Installed as president pres-ident of the Rotary Club at the ceremonies, assuming the post in the place of D. C. DIx, who has headed the group during the past year. Over 150 Rotarians. their wives and guests were on hand to en-Joy en-Joy the event. T A. ! t ' rasi president s pin was presented pre-sented to Dix by Governor Stein.' Dlx In town" presented Governor Stein with a check for $280 as the club's contribution to the International In-ternational Fund. According to the reports, that contribution was the largest,, per capita, in the entire en-tire district. Master of ceremonies at the Impressive Im-pressive installation was John warner. entertainment was furnished fur-nished by staff members of the Utah Parks Company at Zlon Lodge. The program Included musical, comical and other highly high-ly entertaining features. Featured speaker for the evening eve-ning was Dr. Royden C. Braith-waite, Braith-waite, director of the College of Southern Utah. Dr. Braithwaite discussed the Importance of the Rotary Club within the community commu-nity and the part it plays in the development of the community. Governor Stein also praised the local organization for the outstanding out-standing recognition the club has obtained within the district and the position of importance it has acquired on that level. Elected to serve with Draper during the coming1 year were Giles Bolander and Jim I ley wood as vice presidents; Jim Amend and Wm. T. Smith, directors. Les Wahl, treasurer, and Glen Froyd, secretary, were re-elected to their respective positions. Lawrence Leonardl will serve as sergeant-at-arms. Outgoing officers, in addition to Dlx as immediate past president, presi-dent, Include draper and Myron Higbee as vice presidents; Wm. Merryweather and Robert Gardner, Gard-ner, directors, and Wm. T. Smith, sergeant-at-arms. |
