Show Wayne Wonderland Receives Parks Service Aid A telegram received last week by the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern and Eastern Utah from Sen. Arthur V. Watkins, states that the Parks Service plans an expenditure of $5,050 in the undeveloped un-developed "Wayne Wonderland" during the 1951 fiscal year. This telegram was in response to letters written to members of Utah's congressional delegation during the past year, urging appropriation ap-propriation of a modest sum for the management and protection cf the area, and for sufficient development work so that citizens citi-zens from all over the nation could enjoy this marvelous undeveloped un-developed scenic wonder. Funds appropriated will be used to establish a permanent year-round park ranger a sum-mertime sum-mertime assistant, a pickup, tools, and also for roads, trails camp grounds, water and santi-lary santi-lary facilities, signs and information infor-mation for tourists. Capital Reef national monument monu-ment was. dedicated by Gov. Henry Hen-ry H. Blood on Aug." 2, 1937, as the result of the activities of local citizens and the Associated Civic clubs, and it was expected expect-ed that congress would make at least a modest appropriation to begin the opening and developing de-veloping of this unique area. |
