Show Blaine Johnson Accepts BAC Appointment ' ' I Blaine H. Johnson, head of the music department, Dixie junior college, has accepted an appointment appoint-ment to the staff of Branch Agricultural Agri-cultural college, tt was announced announc-ed by Dr. H. Wayne Driggs, di-rector. di-rector. Mr. Johnson was appointed by the USAC board of trustees to take the position being vacated by Prof. William H. Manning who is retiring at the end of the current year. Mr. Johnson will be head of vocal music at BAC. A native of Spanish Fork, Mr. Johnson is a graduate of Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University where he received his bachelor of arts degree de-gree in 1940. After a period of service In the armed forces and extensive study he resumed his studies toward the master's degree de-gree at Columbia University. He received his master of arts de- gree in 1918. At Union Theoljical Seminary in New York he received extensive ex-tensive training in religious music. mu-sic. He had had wide experience at B. Y. U. and at other colleges in oratorio singing. A tenor soloist, solo-ist, he has sung lead roles in several oratorio productions. At Dixie he is currently producing Faure's "Requiem" with the combined com-bined choruses of that school. He served in the armed forces from 19U to 194G in the Asiatic theatre as a commander and a training officer. Mr. Johnson is married and has two children. Mrs. Johnson is an accomplished pianist in her own rleht. |
