1 The campaign manager for Senator Truman H. Newberry states-that the senator's campaign was the cleanest ever conducted. conduct-ed. If this is true we do not understand what constitutes cleanness. clean-ness. The courts show that the senator's policy was to buy votes if he could not get them 'otherwise. For this campaign manager to come out and state this was purely a partisan matter of the administration ad-ministration in power is so black a lie that it smells to heaven. The case was bad enough without this manager coming out and trying to whitewash the thing. The people followed the court proceedings pro-ceedings and the testimony close enough to make up their minds long before the verdict of the CQurt was delivered as to the guilt of the senator. Now for the scape goats to come out and try to whitewash the whole procedure is little less than the dirtiest kind of hypocracy. Such expressions will only hurt the Republican " party and if that party is honest and square in its dealings it will r now come out and denounce Senator Newberry.
