Show Junior High News (Norma Knight, Reporter) Our ten o'clock classes are activity ac-tivity classes which are very important im-portant to the students in our school. They give us a start on our careers. The Jurnalism class publishes a school paper called the "Sage-b.ush "Sage-b.ush News" each week for the entire student body. It is under the direction of Mrs. Florence Tii. potts. There are fourteen students stu-dents in this class, and the editor ed-itor is Mona Rae Milne. She has Geraldinc Douglas as her assistant. assist-ant. The Dramatic Art class is putting put-ting on two one-act plays. They are: "Elmer", and "The Girl From Sweden". There are nine-Uen nine-Uen in the class, and sixteen are in the plays. The others are helping help-ing with the scenery. Mrs. Virgie Frame is the teacher. The Photography class has been developing pictures. They are about ready to take pictures for the yearbook. Mr. Wallace Osborne Os-borne is the teacher. In the Business Math class they are learning how to make checks properly. Thev are world nn In tho store selling supplies to the shop. They also sell candy, pop, ice cream, and school supplies. Tho bank, which is being remodeled, will open next week. LaMont Bennett is the teacher. j Our music teacher, Miss Eve- lyn Swindler, is doing a fine i job with the Girls Glee Club. Clifton Chatterley has been teaching his students in shop how to make small pieces of furniture. j In art class the students have been using water colors. They are painting the modern city of 1980. A new teacher, Merlyn Jones, is the instructor. j Mrs. Verna D. Bell has a leath- i er craft class that is learning to make belts, wallets, etc. They are doing a fine job. The home economics group has been cooking. They are cooking lunches now. After Thanksgiving they will make Christmas gifts. Miss Christine Rogers is the teacher. Mrs. Doris Smith's craft class is also going to make Christmas gifts. They have been tatting and textile painting. All of these classes are for the eighth and ninth grades. The seventh grade students are taking tak-ing the classes they need the most. There is a reading class taught by Mrs. Jennie Whitby. When they become acquainted with a lot of good books they will also learn the phonetics of a word. Every other day the remainder re-mainder of the students go into penmanship and general science. La Veil Chamberlain teaches general gen-eral science, where the students are studying natural resources and the make up of the body. In penmanship the students study from tho Talmer Co. text book. Each month they send in samples of their writing. Thoy are judged on improvement. When they pass the proper mark-n.g mark-n.g they will be able to join the Good Writers Club. This club is to improve handwriting. The class has already sent in the October text copies and are waiting wait-ing for their ratings. They are also studying spelling. Principal L. C.
