Show Jaycees Aslt Home Owners to Prepare for Fly Control Campaign Believing that flies in our city &n be controlled only through constant con-stant and aggressive efforts, the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce Public Health Committee has outlined a long-range campaign designed de-signed at controlling the fly menace men-ace not only this year but in the years to come. Emphasizing that cleanliness Is the first enemy of flies, tine committee com-mittee has asked the cooperation of every home owner in the city to make doubly sure that his corral or back-yards are free from any fly breeding filth as the first general barrage to be leveled against the fly this season. As soon as corrals and back yards are cleaned, home owners may avail themselves of a thorough and expert D.D.T. spraying spray-ing service that will keep down the flies for the greater part of the summer. Pointing out that it Is not the aim of the Junior Chamber of Commerce to carry on fly control work Itself year after year, but rather to use the past year and this year as examples ex-amples to the citizens of the city In proving that files can be controlled, controll-ed, Sheldon (Olds, president of the local dub paid high praise to the Public Health Committee for the splendid work it has alreudy accomplished. ac-complished. "Such a program as this committee contemplates this year requires considerable planning and work even before actual spraying begins," Mr. Olds said, "and the committee should be highly commended com-mended for Its efforts." The Junior Chamber of Commerce Health Committee Is composed of Maylln Maxfleld, Board advisor, Sum Gentry, chairman, Byron Baldwin Bald-win and J. C. Haws, committee members. The general plan this year for fly control will follow this pattern: pat-tern: 1 All home owners and corral cor-ral owners will be asked to clean up around their own respective back ards and corrals Immediately, 2 They may call either 667. 282-W. 282-J, or 175-M and request that their corrals be sprayed. Upon receiving re-ceiving this request one of the committee com-mittee will call and Inspect the corral cor-ral to determine If It is clean e-nough e-nough to spray. (It Is a waste of time and money to spray a dirty, filthy corray). Upon receiving the go-ahead sign from this member of the committee, the spray truck will be brought and the spraying done. A nominal charge to cover the cost of spraying will be made. "It Is Imperative that corral owners own-ers prepare for this spraying service ser-vice immediately," Mr. Maxfleld stated, "since flies are already becoming be-coming a menace to our city and will continue to grow even more dangerous as the season progresses." He called upon everyone to clean their corrals now, and have them sprayed. "Surely the results of the program carried out last year justifies justi-fies any effort we can make this year In controlling files." he said. In addition to the fly control program pro-gram In Cedar City the same service ser-vice for D. D. T. spraying will be made available to other communities In the county who wish to get together to-gether In a cooperative drive to control flies there. A few citizens In the city have called asking for spraying service since the announcement made last week, Mr. Olds reported, but the response has not been as great as the committee had hoped it would be. If the cooperation of the people Is not obtained, sufficient to control the fly menace this, year, the City Public Health Committee will be called upon by the Jaycee group to exercise its authority to see that fly breeding areas are cleaned up. |
