Show Local Vocalist Wins In Talent Contest Eldred Foster, popular young Cedar City vocalist, received a chance of a life time Sunday when he appeared appear-ed on radio station KDYL in Salt Lake Chty as featured artisx in the Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsored spon-sored search for talent contest. Mr. Foster was winner of the Southern Utah Search for Talent contest concluded last week. The Centennial Search for Talent Contest Is being sponsored by the Utah Junior Chamber of Commerce and radio station KDYL, through the cooperation of local Jaycee or-ganlzatlons or-ganlzatlons Ithroughout the state. The first program in the series was sponsored by the Cedar City Jaycees Jay-cees who conducted a Southern Utah contest to determine who would represent this club in the state contest. It was this contest that Eldred won in competiton with Mrs. Janice Prothero and Cllve Hartman In a special broadcast over radio station KSUB. The Cedar City Jaycees paid all expenses to and from Suit Lake City for the contest winner, while radio station KDYL paid all expenses ex-penses wliile lit Salt Lake City. The series will continue for a period of 11 weeks, at which time the grand winner of the state contest will be chosen and will receive a vacation trip, all expenses paid, to Hollywood. The local contest was under the direction of Ed Olvan, vice president; presi-dent; Mrs. Ila Sherratt, president of the Jaycee-Ettes, and Mrs. Lnw-rence Lnw-rence Lowder, vice president. |
