Show Summit Resident Suffers Wound In Beachhead Battle Word has been received from England that Phil Walker. 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marton Walker of Sununlt, has been wounded In battle bat-tle during the Invasion of France. No official word has been received from the war department, but a letter was received rom Fliil, stating stat-ing that he was in a hospital In England recovering from wounds received In battle. He gave no details of his Injuries but stated that he was recovering satisfactorily, and would "be able to leave the hospital In a couple of months", indicating that his injuries in-juries were nt least comparatively serious. Pfo. Walker was with the 90th. division. US. Infantry and was in the first wave of the Invasion forces. for-ces. His division was credited with repulsing at least 15 German counter coun-ter attacks during the establishment establish-ment of the Normandy beachhead. Phil entered service on July 24. 1943. and left for overseas duty In January of this year, and had been stationed In England until the invasion in-vasion of France started . |
