Show v Beaver Team Wins Berth In M Men District Tournament The Beaver East Ward M Men basketball team won a berth in the district tournament to be held in Beaver this week end by winning two games from the Cedar Third Ward team this week. The first game was played in Beaver Saturday Satur-day night with the home team winning win-ning by two points, 32 to 30, after a hectic battle. Monday night the teams met In Cedar City with Beaver winning by a score of 32 to 29 In a game that required two extra periods to decide de-cide the outcome. At no time during dur-ing the game was there more than three points difference In the score, and the lead changed several times. However, Cedar held the advantage most of the time, holding a one- pumt ieaa at me ena oi eacn oi 'he three first periods. With less than two minutes of playing time left, Beaver went into a three-point lead then Cedar gained the lead with two shots, and a foul pitch by Beaver tied the score at 29 all as the game ended. Neither side scored scor-ed in the first extra period, but in the second period the visitors got a foul pitch and a field goal. Four teams will enter the district tournament and the winner will represent this section in the all-church all-church tournament to be held in Salt Lake City next week. The four teams entered in the district meet Include the Cedar Second Ward. Beaver East Ward, Enterprise Enter-prise and Orderville, with the Cedar Ce-dar team favored to win the all-church all-church meet berth. The Cedar Second Ward team, coached by Ace Terry, is composed of the following players: Grant Seaman, Nelson Bulloch, Dan Heaps and Ed Clark, forwards; Mont Bennett, Ben-nett, and Vert Hilton, centers; Carl Richards, Milton Hoyt, Elloyd Mar-chant Mar-chant and Van Esplln, guards. o |
