Show Gasoline Prices Take Slight Hike In Cedar City Gasoline prices in Cedar City advanced ad-vanced lc per gallon on April 2nd. at most of the service stations owned own-ed by the major oil companies, with nearly all the local dealers making similar adjustments in prices by the end of the week. The increase in price, it is reported, re-ported, followed the receipt of advice ad-vice from Ponca City, Oklahoma, that the Continental Oil Company had put in effect an Increase of a cent a gallon In the wholesale price of gasoline in Utah, and other large refiners immediately announced Increases In-creases of from one-half to one cent per gallon; The whole state of Utah, together togeth-er with most of the west, was affected af-fected by the price increase, it was announced. Officials of the Utah Association of Petroleum Retailers, Inc. blamed blam-ed the rise on the defense program, stating that the refiners were not prepared for the tremendous increase in-crease In demand that has come with the expansion of the defense set-up which caused shortages to occure in refined gasoline, making a price increase necessary. As la result of the increase, gasoline which has been selling locally at 19Uc and 21c sinie early in January when prices dropped drop-ped 3c a gallon, is now selling at 20 and 22 c per gallon. A |
