Show Correspondence KANARRAV1LLE. Kanarra, Utah, Nov. 7, 1916. Last Saturday noon we witnessed the departure of three of our young men for the Southern States mission, in the persons of Grant Piatt, Lorenzo Roundy and Otto Reeves. They will leave Salt Lake City Wednesday, Nov. H for their fields of labor. Last Thursday night a party and program was given by the ward. A purse of $80.00 was gathered in and presented to them after the expenses of the party were defrayed. This is the largest purse ever raised here for a like purpose and the boys appreciated appre-ciated it very much, as none of them were overburdened with ready cash. They left feeling fine and in good spirits. spir-its. Lorenzo Davis has his house ready for the plasterers, having torn it down and remodelled it. Mahonri Stapley was here for a-bout a-bout a week, leaving last Sunday for his home in Delta. He got a chance to come overland in an automobile and return, which he was glad to avail himself of, to visit his father, mother, brother and sister with their families. t Will Stapley of Hinckley came in on last Saturday's mail truck in time to be present at the birthday supper given in honor of his father, who is 78 years of age. Will is visiting and shaking hands with his former1 friends. He reports that he is doing nicely at Hinckley. Joseph H. Pollock, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Christensen, went to Hurricane today to visit for a few days. A snowstorm has been on here now for the past two or three days. Arnold Graf, who came down from his coal mine tonight, reports a foot of snow at the mine. Coal hauling will be delayed for a few days as a result Not all of the potatoes have been dug yet. Quite a number of people are suffering suf-fering with bad colds now-a-days. Out of 130 registered votes in the Kanarra precinct, 114 were cast in the recent election. |
