Show (JOODWIN'S WEEKLY PRAISES (J. T. ODELL. Praises His Untiring Efforts in the j W. S. S. Campaigns Not enough has been said in praise of the efforts of George T. Odell as State Director of the W. S. S.. All over the land the camgaign in behalf of the W. S. S. proved to be one of the most difficult of undertakings. Why this should be is almost inexplicable inex-plicable in view of the inducements offered by the government to flout this form of loan. It was an investment invest-ment almost without equal in the long history of war loans. The selling of W. S. S. as it transpired, trans-pired, was a big task everywhere. No where was it performed more worthily worth-ily or more successfully than in Utah I under the direction of Mr. Odell and ' his associate, James W. Collins. Although one of the busiest men IB the state as generul manager of the Consolidated Wagon ond Machine Co., Mr. Odell willingly augmented his labors to serve the government in its hours of crises. He made many trips into the state to organize the , work and to use his greut influence to promote the sales. It was his mar- i velous energy and tenacity which brought such notable results despit" the many difficulties. We ure justified in assuming thut I it is this character of persistency in j the pursuit of an object once set as u goal which has brought Mr Odell such success as a business man. Ill doubtlau had something to do witli ; his selection us state director of the W. S. S. Campaign. It is the distinction of Mr. Odell, that coming from this country a poor' lud from Kngland, he has worked Ins way up from the humble position of u freight conductor to the gentra! managership of the largest retail un plement company in the world. The ( 'nnsolidated Wagon and Machine Co. if we are not in error, has some sixty different houses. For twenty years Mr. Odell has been ut the head of this flourishing concern. Its growth bus Iieen due in a large measure to him. It. is a worthy monument to one of t he ablest business men in the state. In recent months Mr. Odell has rented for himself another monu- , ment his achievements as director of the W. S. S. activities in Utah. His fellow citizens will long remember the great, patriotic work he has done. |
