Three members of David Gibson's family are down with the flu. see Mr. Owen Matheson of Midvalley has purchased a car Munich will nid him greatly in his well drilling work. Mr. Bert Mason and family of near Lund are living on Wm. J. Matheson's ' farm at Midvalley, which Mr. Maaon has rented. The post office is now in first-class running order under the management of Mrs. M. S. Rogerson, the new of- ! ficial. Myron S. Jones, choir director, was presented this week with two doSOfl Temple anthem books, volumn N.. J. by Pres. Wm. J. Matheson and company. A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Huight of Midvalley the fore part of this month. This is the first offspring of this union and the happy parents are receiving the con- j gratulutions of their many friends. Ray Gibson and EIRoy Jones left the fore part of the month for Salt Lake, with the intention of enlisting in the navy, but were disappointed on account of being registrants of a later date than was allowed. Mr. Gibson is now at Delta and Mr. Jones is investigating in-vestigating the Students 'Army Training Train-ing corps at Logan with a view to entering. Wm. J. Matheson and daughters and the Misses Myrlu Thornton, Violet and Iantha Matheson came out Tuesday night and helped work, up an enthusiastic enthus-iastic bondfire party for the celebration celebra-tion of the end of the war. Patriotic songs were sung besides other war songs of modern as well as civil war times. The singing was conducted by Myron Jones and Pres. Wm. J. Mathe-json Mathe-json of the choir, and in all it wa3 pronounced pro-nounced a fitting celebration in spite i of the influenza restrictions. Wednesday, November G, Mr. Franklin Frank-lin Stevens of Midvalley received the 1 news of the serious .illness of his daughter Marjorie in Denver of influ enza and pneumonia, where she had been laboring as a misionary. Tho parent hastened to the bedside of his daughter, but was too late to see her alive. The sympathies of the entire ward go out to the family in their bereavement be-reavement over the untimely death, The remains were shipped home for burial. Marjorie was a volunteer and our first lady misionary from this warcj. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Cedar City cemetery, where interment was made. Mrs. Flora Mum ford who has been very critically ill for the past month, passed away Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. This is a particularly tad affair, due to the fact that she leaves a husband and three small children, besides a three-months ild baby, Mrs. Mumford was the daughter of the late ; E. C. Cox of Cedar City and has a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Mr. ami Mrs. Mumford have been residents of this phi'e for a number of years and Mr. Mumford and his family have the sincere sympathy sym-pathy of the entire ward. Funeral services were held on the meeting house grounds at 11 o'clock Thins I; . morning at which many feeling and encouraging remarks were tendered to the family.
