Show WET BAIL M lA S1EP Branch Agricultural Five Makes Triumphant Tour of Southern South-ern Utah Towns. WIN FOUR STRAIGHT GAMES IN FIVE DAYS Beaver, Pangultch, Richfield, and Monroe High School Teams Go Down Before Christenscn's Huskies. That the Branch Agricultural Col. lege basket ball team is going to give a good account of itself in the league games this winter is shown from tho results of n series of practice games that have recently been played with tho teams of other southern Utah high schools, and which resulted In a clean sweep for the local team, tho boys winning every game played with scores' ranging from 34 to 10, in tho game at Panguitch, down to 28 to 25, the result of the game at Beaver with tho Murdock Academy. Tho first game was played with Beaver on tho night of the 17th, and resulted as above stated; the second was at Pangultch on the 18th, tho score of which is also given above; tho 'third was at Richfield on tho 19th and resulted In a scoro of 33 to 17 in favor of tho B. A. C, and the fourth was at Monroo, whore a score of 42-20 was rolled up In tho visitors' favor. In view of tho poor showing made by the B. A. C. team last season, when we wore scarcely considered, the announcement of tho result of these preliminary gnmes Is all tho more remarkable, and speaks volumes vol-umes for tha splondid .workihatsis being dono by Coach Christensn.r It" has occasionally been whispered by those' in touch with conditions at the school that tho basket ball team was being developed this season In a highly high-ly satisfactory manner, but we wore hardly prepared for so sensational a shown gas has boon made In this practlco tour. Tho beginning is a most excellent one, and encourages us to bcliove that the local team has a splendid chance to win first placo in tho southern league this year and go .to Salt Lake to participate in tho championship finals, fi-nals, if they will get In and work energetically en-ergetically to this end. But In this connection two or three things Should bo borno in mind: First, that theso victories have sorved notice no-tice upon tho othor teams of tho district dis-trict that Cedar City has a team worthy wor-thy of their steel, and wili havo tho effect of making the other teams train harder for the league games; second, it should bo borno In mind that it is still early, and that some of tho other teams may not have gotten down to systematic training yet, and that a very great improvement in their playing may naturally be expected; ex-pected; and third, that flushed with success wo aro apt to becomo imbued with our superiority and grow careless care-less In our training. If tho B. A. C, boys want to capture first place this year In the basket ball series they cannot afford to tako a siriglo avoidable chance. Plug, is tho word; and PLUG for all thero Is In you. Tho members of tho regular team who made tho trip were Bunker, Lunt, Jones, Hansen and Lorln Griffin. |
