Since tho enactment of the enlarged homestead law 211,000,000 acres havo boen classified by tho United States Geological Survey as nonirrigablo and designated by the Interior Department Depart-ment as enterable under this law in 320-acro tracts, tho limit being twice that allowed under tho original homestead home-stead law. During the month of February, Feb-ruary, 3,312,206 acres wore thus classified class-ified by the survoy and thrown open to entry by Secretary Lane. The states most affected were Colorado, whero 1,120,000 acres were so designated; desig-nated; Montana, with 1,590,000 acres; and Oregon, with about 300,000 acres. |
