Show CEDAR-LUND ACADEMIZED ROAD. A short time ago we were given the opportunity to inspect the Cedar-Lund road that is now under construction and we feel that a few words on that subject would not be out of place. Many roads are now under construction con-struction in southwest Utah, but not one as necessary to the development develop-ment of Cedar as the one to Lund. Every one who has ridden across the desert to Lund over the present pres-ent trail will agree to that. Wc have a railroad in sight but even if it does come, and wc feel that the construction of the railroad to Cedar will be started this fall, even then the academized road to Lund will be a necessity as wc will hardly hard-ly have more than a train or so a day at the best and will need the paved road to Lund in spite of the railroad. When completed Cedar-Lund road will be as fine an academized road as there is in the state of Utah and it will be ppen for travel by the first of the year and possibly pos-sibly by the middle of December. Engineer Paul can not set a definite defin-ite date, at this time, for the opening open-ing of the road for travel, but says he will try to open the desert stretch before the balance of the road is completed and thereby allow al-low travelers to come across the desert on the paved road and then turn off and come the remainder of thc-distance to Cedar by way of Iron Springs as at present. We will give notice thru The Record as soon as it is possible to travel this road and tip until it is thrown open everyone will be compelled to travel some other road. Engineer Paul has built a large number of substantial concrete bridges to take care of the flood waters and he estimates that these bridges will handle a 20 per cent increase over any flood that has been known so "far, |
