St .Mary's Junior Choir. 1 i On last Friday evening at the Grand -theatre, the junior choir of St. Mary's cathedral gave their sixth entertainment entertain-ment before a large and interested audience. i Sixty-five children appeared, ranging in ages from wee tots of 3 to young ladies. Although the summer is a poor time to have entertainments, a large , and enthusiastic audience attended and . greatly enjoyed the following pro-I pro-I gramme: ' iDuet Master Stanley Woods, Miss Nora Gleason. "Fleeting Days" Chorus Soloist, Miss Birdie Frey. The young ladies of the choir gave a clever little commediatta, "Young Dr. Devine." The characters were well sustained throughout. Miss Addie Frey took the part of Madam, instead of Miss McCabe, and Miss McCabe took the part of Dr. De-vine De-vine on account of Miss Moyer leaving suddenly for Denver. The following was the cast: I Rebecca, the monitor. Miss Katherine O'Brien Elizabeth, wno 'is restless Miss Anna Porter Marie, who writes .. .. . Miss Ella Kroll Clara Fafek, the sweet young soprano so-prano of St. Mary's, as usual captured the audience, singing with exquisite feeling a little ballad, "I Will See Mother Waiting at the Door." Miss Morrison, Miss - Warburton, Miss Judges, Miss Craddock. Miss Graham, Miss Free, Miss Mary Halloran, Master Rue Halloran, Master Charles Egenberger,. Egen-berger,. Master Dale'' Smith, Master Stanley Wood did some pleasing work on the piano. Mary Halloran, the talented little girl who is always a -great favorite, sang very'pleasingly, although she was quite ill. '; Katherine Thomassang a little solo very well, it being her first appearance. Margaret Connelley, a . wee girl, and a remarkably clever one, "captured her audience in a pretty song and dance. - Millie Williams, as usual won much' applause for a pretty song, very well rendered. 1 Miss Florence Graham, who is a very talented pianist, played Godard's Second Gavotte in a very finished manner. man-ner. ,: ' ' The one numoer tbat'completely captured cap-tured the audience was the . "Blue Eyes' song, by Nellie Geary, Margaret Fitzgerald and Beatrice Williams. Tiny Marguerite Taylor, aged three years, was the star, of the evening. These present will: long remember her sweet-baby face and the clever work she so innocently performed. "The Japanese Tea" and "Go Sleep My Honey" were very pretty numbers by Dollie Williams, Lena Fafek and Teresa Te-resa Euller. The programme closed with a pretty pret-ty waltz song by the young girls of the choir, with Miss' Birdie Frey as soloist. Miss Frey has a pretty voice that shows much improvement since last year. Tjny Helena Fister, a tiny tot, attracted much attention during the evening with little Marguerite Taylor. Thos two pretty babies were very lovely and to see them as worth the prip of admission. Many beautiful floral' offerings were given during the evening, but many mistakes were made in giving the flowers to the right children. Beautiful bouquets for Miss Fafek. Miss Frey and Master Dale Smith were lost. A tiny admirer of Miss Clara Fafek threw her a large bouquet bou-quet from the wings to the delight of the other children. Taken altogether, the entertamment proved that t.he St. Mary's children possess unusual musical talent, which only needs further development. The children and those in charge of them appreciate the interest taken by the parents and friends, and with this cooperation co-operation the junior choir of St. Mary's will, be a success. Mrs. Lent and Miss Margaret Harley assisted with the children during the evening. The 'ushers were Michael Fitzgerald, Harvey Brennan, Daniel Armstrong, Howard Butlr and Joseph McKay.
