Show OBITUARY. Allan G. Campbell. Allen G. Campbell, one of the most widely known and popular Utah mining min-ing men, died Monday midnight at his home in Riverside, Cal. . His death was due to pneumonia. A telegram to this I effect was received in this city Tuesday Tues-day morning by Charles F. Sayner from Mrs. Campbell. A few years ago Mr. Campbell, with his family, took up his residence in southern California for his health, which had become impaired. However, even up to a short time before his death he was actively engaged in hi.' favorite pursuit of mining, and devoted much time to developing his properties in San Bernardino county. The announcement of Mr. Campbell's death will cause sincere regret among his many friends in Utah, Nevada and California. His disposition was kindly and his manner genial. In a quiet way he distributed charity to the deserving, and many men and women who are, now prominent in the state are grateful to him for his benefactions in obtaining an education when it was a more difficult dif-ficult matter than it would be now. In former years he paid out thousands of ' dollars for the education of poor chil- ' dren. He was possessed of rare intelligence intelli-gence and great capacity. Many are the old time western friends who will feel deep sorrow on reading of the death of one who was so well and favorably known. i |
