Show j Tntcrmountain news. IDAHO FALLS. IDA. (Special Correspondence.) The local change in the train service has proved beneficial to our Catholics in the country. They can now assist at the early mass one hour later, whilst on the other hand it suits the scattered Catholics at Blackfoot, who attended very well upon last Sunday. They were delighted to hear the announcement an-nouncement that they would have mass on Christmas day to remind them of old times. Hon. J. Dineen leaves for Chicago on the 20th. In connection with the Sunday school library at Idaho Falls, Masters Ed Fanning and B. Magann have been appointed ap-pointed custodians. The books arrived last week to the delight of the parents, who are more interested in the project than the children. f Rev. F. Campbell of Rexburg was a welcome visitor to Idaho Falls. He has been requested to hold a mission here early next spring, and, if time allows, the same afc Blackfoot. The annual election of the altar society so-ciety officers will be held next Sunday after mass. Thirteen new members will be enrolled. The angel of death entered the loving lov-ing home of Mr. Bonr Curly last week and claimed his loving wife. She was truly a modl Christian, and endowed with the true spirit of charity. Her less is keenly felt in a large circle of true friends. The junior choir will- rehearse daily so as to do well for Christmas. The town has been very lively of late, all the farmers busy purchasing their holiday goods. The first sample of the sugar factory-was factory-was seen in a mercantile store last week, and was a surprise to many- on account of its purity. When it was tested last week it was exactly 100 per cent. f- The pastor feels very grateful toward some of the laymen who volunteered to renovate the church interior lat week, thereby showing a good example to many of the newcomers. i Attorney Hansom, who came some time since from Iowa, is succeeding so well here that he induced his schoolmate school-mate to come out also. Mr. Yater claims the town is all right. - Messers. Hopper & Wyatt have opened a plumbing establishment lately late-ly and expect to do their share of the vork, as it is impossible for our local plumbers to keep up with the demands. A wholesale plumber would do well here. Miss Kate Lea Mooney, a sister of the pastor, made her religious profession profes-sion at St. Dominic's convent, Store, England, on Nov. 14. Mr. J. McCarthy of Butte was a visitor visit-or at Blackfoot last week. During the course of this week the census of. the parish will be taken, as new families are arriving. The decrease of crime has been notable not-able of late, and drunkenness is rare. When the saloonkeepers complain of dull times that shows a healthy moral atmosphere. It is to be hoped this will continue. f- Messers. Clein Bros, have now their steam laundry running in magnificent style. A new mangle, weighing over four tons, was recently added to their f mechanical stock. They are very much satisfied at the local .patronage they receive. They expect to establish agencies at Blackfoot, Rexburg and St. Anthony. BUTTE, MONT. A private letter received in Butte from Portland says it is generally understood un-derstood there that Reverend Father Black of that city will be the successor suc-cessor of the late John B. Brondel as bishop of the diocese of Helena. Father Black is very highly spoken of as a man. and the latter adds: "If Father Black is ordained bishop, Montana will get a great and good man, as he ;s very popular here." Father Black is said to be a close friend of Archbishop Arch-bishop Cristie. and should he indorse him to Pope Pius X it is believed his recommendation will have much weight. RAWLINS, WYO. Dr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Maghee returned re-turned from Denver Thursday night, and the doctor shows marked improvement improve-ment from his short rest. While .in the Colorado city he assisted in removing remov-ing a large tumor from the side of Mel Baldwin of Lander, and the patient is doing nicely. Journal. |
