A number of Buffalo women will leave Aug. 23 for Denver, Colo., to attend the meeting of theNational Fraternal congress, which convenes in that city, on Aug. 29, and will continue for several days. Mrs. Elizabeth B. McGowan, supreme su-preme president of the L. C. B. A., will attend, and has arranged for a special .car for the party leaving Buffalo on the morning of Aug. 23. The National Fraternal congress is one of the largest and most important organizations in the country. It is a federation of over 300 fraternal benefit societies, comprising the best known orders. Its principal object is to secure such legislation throughout the 'country as is to the best interests of fraternal benefit organizations. ' X The L. C. B. A. became affiliated with the congress four years ago, and is entitled to four delegatesone delegate being allowed for each 20,000 members of the affiliated society. Mrs. McGowan is a member of the committee on constitution and by-laws. At the last convention, held in Boston, Mass.. Mrs. McGowan was one of the speakers. She is prbobaly one of the most interesting women who will attend the congress, having organized one of the most remarkable societies of women, the L. C. B. A. The society was formed in Titusville, Pa., twelve years ago, since which time Mrs. McGowan has been its supreme president. The society is controlled entirely by women, end it is said that it has yet to have its first quarrel.
