Show MRS. TARBET'S RECEPTION. Brilliant Autumn Event in Salt Lake Society. The social event of the week that ecliosed all others, was the elaborate reception given by Mrs. A. H. Tarbet on Tuesday in honor of Mrs. W. D. D-ipaher of Park City. The event will lopg be remembered for its elegant appointments ap-pointments and perfection of detail. The entertainments given by Mrs. Tarbet Tar-bet are always characterized by a charming informality that is not often enjoyed at social functions. The day itself it-self was beautiful in the splendor of the autumn season, and from 2 to 5 o'clock over 200 beautifully gowned women called to enjoy the hospitality of the gracious hostess. lN2 elegant home was transformed into a picture of floral beauty. In the dining room yellow chrysanthemums, dahlias and autumn leaves were, used, the mantel being banked with flowers. Great American Beauties formed the centerpiece for the table, which was covered with dainty ferns. In the library were pink carnations, . pink roses and palms, .while the parlor was profusely decorated . with white roses. white chrysanthemums, chrysanthe-mums, the daintiest of ferns draping the white curtains. Amidst beautiful palms and ferns were banked vases filled with roses.- In the hall the punch table was draped with smilax and asparagus as-paragus plumosa, and bunches of violets vio-lets surrounded the punch bowl. Upstairs the Salt Lake theatre orchestra or-chestra furnished delightful music. The hostess and the guest of honor were assisted in receiving by Mrs. A. W. McCune, jr., and Mrs. I. N. Parker. All the ladies of the receiving party were exquisitely gowned. The punch was served by Mrs. George Reed and Miss Luce, while Mrs. A. T. Kerr and Mrs. J. B. Cosgriff served ices and coffee, assisted by the Misses Parker, Sinclair and Beatrice Kearns. . In every way the reception was a delightful one, just as all former events given at the Tarbet home. The McCornick Luncheon. One of the past week's delightful events was the elaborate luncheon given giv-en by Mrs. W. S. McCornick and Miss Keogh. All the appointments were perfect and the most charming hospitality was dispensed by the gracious hostesses. host-esses. The guests numbered eighty. At each table were placed handsome candelabra can-delabra with candles and shades harmonizing har-monizing with the color scheme of the rooms. The drawing room was entirely doc-orated doc-orated with American Beauties. In the music room a stringed orchestra furnished fur-nished delightful music. The eent will long be remembered as being delightful de-lightful In every respect. Altar Society Parties. The first of a series of card parties that will be given during the winter by the ladies of the Altar society took place last Tuesday night, and it was a success, both financially and socially. Mrs. F. D. Morgan and Mrs. J. W. Moore were the hostesses, and the delightful de-lightful affair "was given at the beautiful beau-tiful home of Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Doo-ley. Doo-ley. Mrs. Dooley kindly offered her house, as, owing to its size and design, many people can be entertained. Judging Judg-ing from this last attendance, the ladies of the Altar society will soon be oblidged to entertain in some large hall. Euchre was the game played on Tuesday; the first prize, a handsome candle stick, was won by Miss Reel; the lone hand " prize, a hand-painted placque, was won by Mrs. Beggs of Park City, while D. S. Trueman carried car-ried off the gentleman's prize, a handsome hand-some cigar holder. Among those present pres-ent were Very Rev. D. Kiely, Rev. Father Morrissey, Rev. At the close of the game delicious refreshments were served, and at midnight all reluctantly bade farewell fare-well to the charming hostesses. ' Every one present expressed the wish that the ladies of the Altar society will give many more card parties during the coming season. Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Moore were assisted in receiving by Mrs. Dooley. |
