Show BOUNTY FOR SUGAR. Resolutions Adopted at Corner Stone Laying at Sugar City. That a state bounty to encourage the sugar industry is desired by the people of Idaho was strongly declared in resolutions res-olutions adopted Wednesday last at the laying of the cornerstone of the Fremont County Sugar company's factory fac-tory at Sugar City. The resolutions follow: "Whereas, The sentiment of the people peo-ple of Idaho is and has been practically practical-ly unanimous in favor of a state bounty boun-ty for the encouragement of the sugar industry; and "Whereas, This sentiment is confined to neither political party nor to any section of the state, having been expressed ex-pressed both by the Democratic legislature legis-lature of 1901 and the Republican legislature leg-islature of 1903, after a' vigorous campaign cam-paign in which it was thoroughly discussed; dis-cussed; and "Whereas, In reliance on. the good faith and sincerity of the state of Idaho, Ida-ho, as expressed by the act of the governor gov-ernor and legislative assembly, a large number , of citizens, both of this and other states, have invested and are about to invest a sum approximating ' $2,000,000 in the construction of sugar plants; therefore, be it "Resolved, That this mass meeting of citizens of Idaho deplores any attempt at-tempt to defeat tr nullify the will of the people and of the governor and legislature leg-islature as expressed by law, as being a repudiation of the faith and credit of the state, a blot on its honor and a j blow to the prosperity of the common- j wealth." |
