Show -o BLACKFOOT, IDA. A very large congregation attended divine service at the court house last Sunday. Yet more Catholic families keep flowing in. Evidently Blackfoot is attracting many homeseekers. Miss Kate Brady of Butte, Mont., is the guest of Mrs. E. Laughlin. In her honor a dinner party was given last Sunday evening, which was much appreciated. Mr. J. Canfield of Butte. Mont., has donated to Blackfoot parish three acres for a Catholic cemetery at the urgent request of Father Mooney, not that the latter is anxious to bury his flock, but only that they should possess pos-sess a decent burial place of their own. Mr. Dolan from Butte, Mont., paid a hurried visit here to bid upon some very important contracts. M. Fitzgerald of Anaconda has moved his family to Blackfoot. During the week Mr. and Mrs. James Knowles of Pocatello were the guests of Mr. Farnam. Mr. Boyle has now opened his handsome hand-some new hardware store on Bridge street. A large delegation from Blackfoot will spend the Fourth at Idaho Falls, and will visit the famous Tantphaus poultry ranch. Quite a number of Butte excursion ists boarded the train last Sunday en route for the Twin Falls country. A Catholic priest suggested to them that on their return they lay over at Blackfoot. Black-foot. They failed to see through the joke. All the Catholic farmers will soon start in to cut their hay. Though the season has been somewhat late, still heavy crops are anticipated. The sheepmen are already contracting for the hay, but the farmers are keeping back, as they expect better prices than last year. The Misses Messlin will enter the Sacred Heart academy, Ogden, next year. |
