Show Obituary. Oblad. John Frederick Oblad, a pioneer, died ! Friday evening, a victim of pneumonia, after an illness of four days. He was a member of the firm of Oblad & Knight, carriagemakers. The deceased was born in Sweden in 1S41. He emigrated to this country in 1865, and settled in Salt Lake, where he has lived ever since. He has been : a member of the Mormon church, hold-j hold-j ing several important offices. He leaves a wife and seven children. The news of his death caused intense regret in the hearts of all who knew him. He won the regard of all by his sterling, ster-ling, manly . qualities of mind and heart. An honest, industrious man, a generous, just neighbor, a loving husband hus-band and devoted father, his loss is a deplorable one. The Intermountain Catholic extends to the bereaved widow and children sincere sympathy in their bereavement. Woodruff. While returning home from the funeral fu-neral of his wife in the City of Mexico, Mex-ico, Apostle Abraham Owen Woodruff of the Mormon church, died of small pox at El Paso, Tex., Monday night. Mrs. Woodruff died of smallpox about two weeks ago. Her husband had hurried hur-ried to the Mexican capital when informed in-formed of his wife's illness, and was with her to the end. Believing full precautions had been taken to prevent his contracting the disease, he started for his home in Salt Iake. He was ill when he arrived at El Paso, about ten dayr ago. and slopped there to recuperate. A physician pronounced pro-nounced his case one of typhoid and he- was given treatment for typhoid, when it developed that he had smallpox. small-pox. He was at once removed to the isolation hospital at El Paso. His case did not appear to be a severe one and there was every indication that he would soon recover. He ate a hearty breakfast and was thought to have reached the convalescent stage, when he suddenly became worse and passed away, the direct cause of death being heart failure. . , The Intermountain Catholic joins with many friends in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved children, relatives rel-atives anil the members of the. church of which the deceased and his wife were prominent members. Four little children are left orphans and they have the sympathy of all. , I |
