Show CABLES HIBERNIANS ' f; TIDINGS OF CHEER In accord with the precedent cstab- lished by him since his incumbency of !'' the national presidency of the Ancient . Order, of .Hibernians, James E, Dolan L Y . I of this city issued yesterday morning , an official Christmas greeting to all the '..members of ths society throughout the world. ' The greeting was cabled to the heads of the Hibernians in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Hawaii' and the Argentine Republic-. It was forwarded tc all the national officers in the United States, who will in ' turn; communicate it to the respective state officers, who will send it to the divisions. President Dolan acknowledges the aid given by the officers throughout the country in the successful crusade against the "stage Irishman,"',, and refers re-fers to the progrers of the' society in the last year. The greeting is as follows: fol-lows: . ' ". - "' " We extend to the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America .nnd those of Ireland and Great Britain, also those of Australia, Hawaii and the Argentine Republic, a genuine Hibernian greeting, greet-ing, and while rejoicing over the successes suc-cesses of the past year, and returning cmcere thanks to the able officials and members who have so earnestly and zealdusly assisted us in elevating the standard of our ancient society, until today itrfiolds the proud position of being be-ing the oldest, the largest and the most powerful . society of Catholic, men and women in the world, let us not forget those who have passed away, we hope, to a better and harpier home. Let us not forget our friends among the hierarchy and clergy, whose advice and-encouragement have enabled us to make most wonderful, progress and has made it possible lor us to plant our standard in many new and fertile fields. And whilst we, in this land of peace and plentyTare enjoying the God-given rights of liberty and"' independence, let usi not forget our brethren at home, who look to us for encouragement, and let us labor earnestly to hasten the day when they, too, shall enjoy the privi- |
