Show THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY. Archbishop Keane's mission in behalf of the Catholic University has begun to bear some fruit. So far as we know, nothing much has been accomplished in the east but in the vigorous and ; generous west Archbishop Keane found ! the first responding note to his appeal. Mr. Michael Cudahy of Chicago, it is officially announced, has contributed the sum of $50,000 for the establishment of a chair, which sum, together with smaller amounts contributed in Chicago, Chi-cago, has made a very respectable showing. We have no doubt but that the success suc-cess of ArchbtCioD Keane in Chicago may be attributed in great part to the good will of Archbishop Feehan, who, in his quiet way, is a tower of strength to any cause which he favors. It is said that Archbishop Keane is working under the auspices and approbation appro-bation of the Bishops of the country. This is undoubtedly tiue in theory but if it were a real living fact, the Catholic University would receive the funds which Archbishop Keane is endeavoring en-deavoring to secure in six months. Sometimes facts are ugly things. j |
