Show JOSEPH EOGAN DEAD. . ; ' i Hon. Joseph Hogan, Montana's first State Mining Inspector, member of the Montana .Constitutional Convention and member of the first State Legislature, Legis-lature, died Sunday night of pneumonia. pneu-monia. . j Mr. Hogan . was a ' man of robust physique, and the news of his untimely end came like a shock, to his friends. , He contracted the dread disease a week ago today, while coming from his work as a miner in the St. Lawrence mine. He leaves a, wife and four children to mourn his loss. Mr. Hogan was a man of sterling qualities and a citizen of the very best type. While always an advocate of the workingmen's interests, he never loudly loud-ly paraded the fact. As a member of the Constitutional Convention, at which were assembled the best men of the state in all parties, Mr. Hogan enjoyed the full respect of his more highly educuted colleagues and he was never a party to anything that was not right. Also as a' member of the first Legislature Legisla-ture he was a faithful and honest worker. His sterling worth was recognized recog-nized by Governor Joseph K. Toole, who appointed him Mining Inspector. As soon as he served : his term Mr. Hogan at once returned to the modest and honest labor of an underground-toiler, underground-toiler, asking for no further political honors. He was a man of most excellent ex-cellent character, a devoted husband and father, whose untimely taking off is a. loss to the community and the state. His reward will surely be rest in peace, while for his bereaved family j heartfelt sympathy will go out. |
