Show -t . A NEW MENACE TO MAN. 1 A new outgrowth of socialism, all the more dangerous because it declares itself to be Christian socialism, and more significant than that. "Woman's i Christian Socialism."' menaces the male sex and j demands the abrogation of the constitution of the United States. The leaders of the party who advocate ad-vocate this latest ism propose to push their propaganda propa-ganda with such vigor and celerity that they will be able shortly to send a delegation of women, representing rep-resenting every state in the Union, to Washington to lay before the ruling powers this proposition: "That the old and effete constitution be abrogated and the new constitution, meeting the exigencies j of the hottr, be adopted."' It is to be hoped that the W. C. S. delegates will get to Washington during du-ring President Roosevelt's term. No weaker or less strenuous man should be in the executive chair to meet them when they present their demand. What arc the "exigencies of the hour'-' to which reference" is made? Inasmuch as "liberty and happiness hap-piness are no longer-possible for a majority and life itself is in a constant state of jeopardy," and since from this point of view of the AY. C S. man j has made a muddle of governing and "his capacity for maintaining' a peaceful government has reached its natural limit.' it is proposed that all individual ownership of land shall be abolished and that there I shall be no further use of money. Where there is no money, of course, no one can pay money for store goods, hence everything in the stores is to be five with a condition. Possibly having in mind the Babel which might ensue in the free ttures when every day was a bargain day. free goods will be allowed to every man who does his share of work. "All social relations."' says the declaration of principles, prin-ciples, "arc. to be governed by two laws, viz.: (1) j The (J olden Rule, aud () if a man will not work neither shall he tat." As no conditions are mentioned for women it is to be presumed they will have everything free without work. It is not only an unpleasant but depressing prospect for men. They must eat if they expect to live, and they must work il' they expect to cat. But fpr what will they be working i Not for the ownership of a honi". Individual ownership own-ership of land will be. abolished. Not for money. The use of money will be abandoned. They must work simply for what they put in their stomach, which will muke labor undignified and its reward most unsatisfactory. The large lazy element in j every community will either be killed off by star- vation e,r it will ri.-e en mue and sfi.ee upon the food earned by the industrious. Perhaps the W. C. S. party will find some way to compel the lazy to gel behind the hoe or the shovel. If not. then there will be things doing when it enforces its laws. The details of the new party's platform of principles, prin-ciples, however, are of not so much huporwijice a; the fact that mat) is again menaced in his "life, lib-c-itv aud pursuit of happiness" by t'y is-wo gev-tlev Lr: now tinner sex. Instead of W.wz th- tvrant he is to be the victim. The full. deep, dark skp.i;j(ance of this new cabal of the women is contained in the b'ld. outspoken statement that "wotim'. the representative rep-resentative of the mohrr principle of ih-. creative force." consequently endowed "with clearer perceptions percep-tions of divine truth end nalural law." . to remove re-move all "the t r;m s'vro-sions of mm" and evolve order out of chaos. She is to brine; "the nation into live with the beneficent laws of creation." Tha' -.;r,:ing is c plain one. When "communities, slates' 'd thr nation.'.! ?rov:?rnment are administered hi-:' hi-:' )ii;-.!c boards of dirce;:r-," men. will have to hustle for a chance to live -it all Chicago Tribute- . 4 . |
