At Thursday's meeting, of the Cork county council, in reference to a vacancy" vacan-cy" in the clerica staff, the chairman said he had reason to know that a member of the council was going to propose for the position the name of an I Irishman, and he was certain that ! every member of the council would hear it put before them with pleasure. Thus Irishman was in America, and anxious to return to Ireland. It was Mr. Jeremiah Jere-miah O'Donovan Rossa, who would be admirably fitted for the position connected con-nected with correspondence. Mr. J. O'Mahony We are sorry we cannot give him a better position. Mr. O'Brien Docs he know Irish? (Laughter.) Mr. J. Mahony Indeed he docs. Mr. Hurley, in proposing Mr. O'Donovan O'Don-ovan Rossa for the position on the clerical cler-ical staff, said it would be unnecessary to recapitulate his history. It was well known to all. He had great pleasure in proposing him for the position. Mr. T. Dinneen second the resolution, which was adopted. It was decided to cable the result to Mr. O'Donovan Rossa in New York. |
